5 Managerial Skills One Can Learn from a Housewife

1.    Multi-tasking: She is brilliant in this. In one single moment she is capable of doing so many things. She’ll be talking on the phone while making her children do homework and ironing her husband’s shirt while the washing machine is on and milk is boiling on the gas and in signs she is giving instructions to the maid. Phew!

2.    Prioritizing: She knows exactly when she has to do what. It is as if she is being guided by instinct. She will give her attention to the most demanding task first and then gradually attend to the next most important work and so on and so forth. She makes the house work in a clinical manner as if it’s a well-oiled machine.

3.    Listening: She is all ears to everyone in the house. From the husband to the children to the maid to the neighbour to the friend on the phone. No one can complain that she isn’t listening or that she is giving more attention to others.

4.    Problem-Solving: If there’s a problem, she is the problem solver. She has the solution to all the problems whether it is resolving conflict between her children or lifting her husband’s sagging spirit or giving tips to the maid on how to make her husband quit drinking.

5.    Motivation: She keeps the house going no matter what. Even when she is tired, not feeling well, or just not in the mood, she never displays her emotions for fear that it may have a detrimental effect on her family. But if a family member is tired, or not well or not in the right mood then she cheers them up, rallies behind them and ensures that all is well.
