Nirvana

One of the meanings of nirvana is ‘an ideal or idyllic state.’ Each one of us would like to be in this state. To attain nirvana is the ultimate goal of every individual. There are actions and situations that help a person reach there.

I thought of sharing with you those actions and situations that take me there. These actions and situations detach me from this world and set me on the path towards nirvana. Here are they:

Ø  Prostration (the act of sajdah while praying). It’s a private conversation between me and the Creator.  There’s no barrier. I surrender unconditionally. In this state, I become one with the One and my soul takes flight to uncharted zones in the cosmic world. Life comes to a standstill.

Ø  There’s a little corner in my house which is called the Book Nook. When I sit there, everyone knows that I shouldn’t be disturbed. It is my island of contentment. Books give me peace of mind, comfort, and a high. Nothing bothers me, nothing can bother me. My books are the best companions I can ever hope for. They relax me like nothing else can.

Ø  When I am amidst nature, especially when it’s raining also. The soft pitter patter of the rains and the singing of the breeze combine to create an aura that lifts my spirits sky-high. On such occasions, I just like to be with myself, watching the rain fall and after it has stopped, listening to nature’s poetry.

Ø  Sniffing the aroma of a perfectly laid out buffet and then partaking it. The buffet should contain a mixture of Indian, Pakistani, Arabic, Lebanese, Iranian, Turkish, Chinese and Thai food. When you eat good food in a good ambience then you transcend the ordinary. You experience extraordinariness.

Ø  Being in company in which I can be my real self. Then there’s no need to put on a façade. So no pressure, no stress, no ego. Heart, mind and soul are all aligned.

Those are my paths leading to nirvana.

What’s yours?
