Thank God


                                                                

Life is tough but thank God we are still alive. Things don’t go our way but thank God we have things to do. In office, work is difficult, but thank God we still have jobs. The cost of living is going up and salary is not keeping pace with inflation but thank God we are getting our salaries.

People bitch about us but thank God we have people around us. Sometimes we are directionless but thank God we have paths. Property prices have gone down but thank God we have houses to live in.

Our efforts go unrecognised but thank God we have strength to put in more effort. Our ideas are rejected but thank God we have a mind to think. The buses and trains are crowded and there is always a traffic jam but thank God we reach our homes.

Sometimes the food is bland, tasteless, but thank God we have food to eat. Our enemies always try to bring us down but thank God we have friends. There’s no good news for us but thank God we have no bad news. We get easily depressed but thank God we have the ability to smile.  

Headaches are many but thank God we have a head. We lose our loved ones but thank God we had them. We fail time and again but thank God we can bounce back. Sometimes we feel lost but thank God we find ourselves.

When we are down, thank God we are not at the bottom. When we are at the bottom, thank God we cannot go further down. When our prayers go unanswered, thank God someone else’s gets answered. When our expectations from God are dashed, thank God we can expect from Him again.      

Thank God there is God.

The Lady in Red

Yesterday after my morning prayer, I went for my 30- minute walk. My wife did not accompany me because she preferred the warmth of the bed to the cold outside. Usually, she does. I did not take the path that I normally take every day. The road was deserted and not a soul was in sight. I walked briskly, determined to do a certain number of steps within the time that I had. Zaidis and Wastis

                                                         Many people believe that Zaidis and Wastis are two separate surnames. The truth is that it isn’t. Zaidis and Wastis hail from a place in Iraq called Wasit. Wasti is actually Wasiti but over time, it became Wasti. They are descended from the fourth Imam Ali bin Hussain, also known as Zain-ul-Abedin. His eldest son’s name was Zaid. Hence the name Zaidi.
