Imam Jafar Sadiq (a.s.) on Food
To derive maximum benefit, cucumber
should be eaten from the root side.
Radish has 3 main advantages:
a)
Its leaves remove poisonous
gases from the body
b)
Its seeds are easily
digestible
c)
Its veins take out sputum
Eating beetroot cures the
person from dandruff.
Salad leaves clears blood.
For beautiful male children,
chicory (kasni) leaves should be eaten in plentiful.
Grapefruit should be taken after
the meals though doctors advise grapefruit to be taken before meals.
Guava cleans the stomach. It is
better if it is consumed after meals instead of first thing in
the morning, as is generally advised.
Quince improves complexion.
Rice is a good food as it
expands intestines and cures dysentery.
Pomegranate should be eaten
with its pulp for it is good for the abdomen and cures indigestion.
Meat increases intellect.
Sattu (a blend of cereal
powder or flour) when had with olive oil

Freshens complexion &

Increases sexual strength
Porridge was very much liked by
the revered Imam.
Cow’s milk is the best
medicine.
Bathing after a full meal
destroys health.
Grapes
take away distress.
