Poison



Poison is an ideology that causes divide between culture, religion and people.



Suspicion is poison. Doubt is poison. Hatred is poison.



The feeling that ‘my religion is superior’ is poison.



Hindus think Hinduism is the best.



Muslims think Islam is the best.



Christians think Christianity is the best.



Jews, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains think their religion is the best.



There's no harm in having such thoughts.  But, don’t think, that other religions are inferior.



Religion is a matter of faith and it should stay that way. Let everyone follow whatever they wish to.



Don’t poison people’s mind. A poisoned mind is dangerous. If one poisoned mind is dangerous, then imagine how dangerous several poisoned minds will be. More than a nuclear bomb. Because nuclear bomb will cause devastation of human lives but poisoned minds will cause devastation of civilization.



Let us remember the national pledge that we all used to say in school:



India is my country

All Indians are brothers and sisters.

I love my country

And I shall always strive to be

A loyal and worthy citizen of it,

To my country and my people

I pledge my devotion.

May God grant her peace and prosperity.



Let all of us stay together. Let all Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Parsis, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and people of other faiths hold hands and stay united.



Let us stop speaking ill about each other. Let us not get submerged in the filthy river of hate. Let us focus on the good that each of us has. Let us break dahi-handi and eat sevai together. Let there be Navroz in our hearts and Christmas in our minds. Let Pongal be in our souls and Onam in our eyes. Let us be like the laughing Buddha.



Let’s not play with poison. Let’s play with the colours of love.  



Let’s celebrate India.

The Lady in Red

Yesterday after my morning prayer, I went for my 30- minute walk. My wife did not accompany me because she preferred the warmth of the bed to the cold outside. Usually, she does. I did not take the path that I normally take every day. The road was deserted and not a soul was in sight. I walked briskly, determined to do a certain number of steps within the time that I had. Zaidis and Wastis

                                                         Many people believe that Zaidis and Wastis are two separate surnames. The truth is that it isn’t. Zaidis and Wastis hail from a place in Iraq called Wasit. Wasti is actually Wasiti but over time, it became Wasti. They are descended from the fourth Imam Ali bin Hussain, also known as Zain-ul-Abedin. His eldest son’s name was Zaid. Hence the name Zaidi. These people are Sayyeds meaning they can trace their ancestry to the Holy Prophet.
