The panic that lurks in our heart. The anxiety that lingers in our mind. The apprehension that doesn’t leave us. The hysteria that clings to us. The angst that destroys us. The dread that devastates us. The tension that bothers us. The worry that eats us from within. The agitation that shakes us.



Cold sweat. Immobile feet. Chill up the spine. Frozen heart. Shaky limbs. Fluttering hair. Goosebumps. Creepy sensation. Desperation.



Hamlet’s father. The spirits of yesteryears. The hyena’s laugh. The ruins of death. The crumbling of life. The death of hope. The birth of fear. 



Bhoot. Djinn. Chudail. Zmeu. Pichal Peri. The inhabitant of the cemetery. The native of wilderness. The resident of an uneasy mind. The imaginary face at the window of our soul.

The Lady in Red

Yesterday after my morning prayer, I went for my 30- minute walk. My wife did not accompany me because she preferred the warmth of the bed to the cold outside. Usually, she does. I did not take the path that I normally take every day. The road was deserted and not a soul was in sight. I walked briskly, determined to do a certain number of steps within the time that I had. Zaidis and Wastis

                                                         Many people believe that Zaidis and Wastis are two separate surnames. The truth is that it isn’t. Zaidis and Wastis hail from a place in Iraq called Wasit. Wasti is actually Wasiti but over time, it became Wasti. They are descended from the fourth Imam Ali bin Hussain, also known as Zain-ul-Abedin. His eldest son’s name was Zaid. Hence the name Zaidi.
