Spread Sunshine

There’s too much gloom in the world. Why should we add more to it? If each one of us decides to spread sunshine, the world will overflow with joy. Let’s start the day with a smile and let’s end the day with a smile and in between morning and night, let’s keep smiling. Smile is contagious. If you smile at someone, even if that person is a loner, he’ll smile back. All of us have problems. I have yet to meet someone who is free from them. Problems are a part and parcel of life. Someone who claims he doesn’t have a problem is lying or living in a dream world. But we shouldn’t allow problems to overwhelm us. Nature is impartial. If there are problems, there are solutions too. Problems shouldn’t stop us from living our lives. They should not change us as an individual. We all like dealing with people who have smile on their faces and not with them who have a frown. So, the same applies to us also. Others would love dealing with us if we have a smile on our face, and they would avo...

Women and Stress

Women and stress go hand in hand. Since they are mentally stronger than men, God has given them more types of stresses to handle. So, small issue or big issue, insignificant or significant, women get stressed out with everything. I have attempted to list down (below) those concerns which gives them stress: Age Appearance Weight Make-up Clothes Complexion Hair Time of the month Climacteric Pregnancy Post-pregnancy Husband Children (Note: I have not considered divorce, separation and widowhood because these are exceptional circumstances). Stress leads to wild swings in the mood of women. Men are unable to understand what is happening. They think that women are behaving melodramatically but that’s not the case. Women are trying, instead, ...

Cock

Of all the birds, cock is one of the handsomest. Regal in appearance, he struts about like a king. He has a harem of plenty of hens, whom he chases throughout the day, for his amorous desires. The poor hens run about trying to escape him but ultimately surrender to his bullying ways. He is dominant, powerful and does whatever he wishes to do. He is the Casanova of all birds. I have seen cocks - both cockerel and rooster- in the wild. For those who may not know the difference between cockerel and rooster, I’ll explain.   Rooster is a fully grown adult while cockerel is much younger. (Cock is also a shortened version of cockerel). The cocks that I saw in the wild were junglefowls. They are larger than the domesticated ones. Either th...

How to be Happy

A reader called me yesterday; she’s a relative but more a friend. She asked, ‘Nasir, how can one be happy?’ I replied, ‘The very fact that you are asking me this question is that you aren’t.’ She said, ‘Yes. I am not happy. But I want to be.’ This lady is married, has children, is well-off, looks good, drives her own car, is educated, wears clothes of the latest fashion, attends all functions and gatherings, laughs a lot, reads heavy stuff, has travelled to several countries, and is religious too. There is no rift between her and her husband. They complement each other well. I know the husband also, so I know. Yet, she claims, she is unhappy. She says there is something missing in her life due to which she is unable to experience true happiness. You see, despite having everything, she is still missing something. And therein lies the problem. Her whole concentration is not on what she has but on what she doesn’t. She is unable to lead a fulfilled life because sh...

One Word – Feedback

Two or three days back I had requested the readers for a one-word feedback for my blogs. Nearly 85% responded. The remaining 15% for reasons better known to them did not. Probably they wanted to save me the blushes. They do not like the contents and hence didn’t want to break my heart and so did not respond.   Thank you for not responding. But the readers who did respond – hundred times thanks to them for the special word they picked to describe my blogs. Never before did these words mean so much to me as they do now. Mentioned below are the list of those ONE WORDS that you dear readers picked / selected to describe the blogs. Wherever a number is mentioned against a word, it means that, that many readers picked / selected that word. Wherever no number is mentioned, it means only one read...

How to Make Husband Love You More

Charity begins at home. So, if the wife wants her husband to love her more, she should start by loving him more. That’s the first step. Having said that, here are few things if the wives do, their husbands will love them more, that’s my guarantee. Stop nagging: This should be done with immediate effect. Just by this one action the husband’s attention towards the wife will increase tenfold. Nagging makes the husband emotionally detach from the wife and the more detached he becomes the more difficult it will be for the wife to make him love her more. Create interest in what he is interested: If he loves movies, watch with him. If he loves sports, watch with him. If he loves travelling, travel with him. If he loves reading, read with him. Whatever he enjoys, enjoy with him. Surprise him. It’s a myth that only women love surpris...

Ramblings of a Blogger

The pearly white clouds speak to me but I am not free to listen to them.   My mind is adrift on the sublime ocean of nothingness. When there’s darkness around us, it’s not the end of the world. We need to light a candle of hope. Life is a celebration for those who have mastered the art of smiling. Those who haven’t, for them life is only life. I am only a shadow if I am an imitation. In my originality lies my real self. The waves of time cannot drown me because I am waiting for the one who commands time. I have surrendered myself to His goodness. I am responsible for what is bad in me. When we free our minds, our soul soars. When we free our souls, we connect with the Divine Mind. Each of us has a dark side. So why should we highlight the ...

A Dog Speaks

Friends, Mr. Zaidi has been kind enough to allow me to speak through his blog site. I wanted to thank a few individuals for making us famous but I was not getting the right platform for doing so. Recently, I heard about Mr. Zaidi’s blogs through my master, who is a keen reader of Mr. Zaidi’s blogs and I got the idea of using his blog site. You see, like Busybee’s dog Bolshoi the Boxer, I can also speak. It’s a rare talent that only Bolshoi and I have. So, one day I asked my master if he would contact Mr. Zaidi and tell him about my idea. At first, he was horrified. He said: ‘Are you crazy, Butter Scotch?’ Shaking my head, I said, ‘No, master. I am not crazy.’ ‘Then why are you giving this idea?’ he asked. ‘Master, I want to thank a few people, for making us fa...

White

White is the colour of the soul; Its whiteness makes the life whole. The symbol of peace is white; Doves only can make the world right. Gandhi, Teresa, Sai, Kabir; Anees, Ghalib, Daag, Dabir. White is goodness, white is purity, White is what makes good poetry. Like Mira’s love, like Sita’s devotion, White never causes any commotion. White is path of truth, white is light, White makes bearable, the dark night. The Taj Mahal’s white brilliance Has illumined the hearts of millions. Pope wears white, the Haajis too, Shinto brides also when they say I do. Nature’s beauty reaches its summit When white colours the earth’s ambit. Snowy flakes float like sweet dreams, Thoughts flow like gurgling streams, Winter is white, white is snow, And the Arctic, wherever you go. Life is colourful, but death is white Shroud is the only cloth, that’s r...

Woman’s Nose

The most appealing part on a woman’s face is her… Eyes – no, you’ve got it wrong. Eyebrows, eyelashes – no, no, they aren’t. Lips – no, sorry. Cheekbones – no, again wrong. Nose – yes, it’s the nose. Nose is the crown of a woman’s face. Nose gives the woman identity, appeal, and charm. That’s the organ that gives the woman her uniqueness. Noses come in all shapes and sizes. But there are six main types (according to me - I am no expert though – from the little study that I have done). They are: ü   The Jennifer Aniston (JA) type ü   The Aishwarya Rai (AR) type ü   The Princess Diana (PD) type ü   The Sania Mirza (SM) type ü   The Kim Kardashian (KK) type & ü   The Ivanka Trump (IT) type No...

10 Lives I’d Have Loved to Lead (Part 2)

Continued from yesterday… Henry David Thoreau: The American writer and philosopher who influenced personalities like Tolstoy, Gandhi and Martin Luther King. He wrote Walden - a classic - which chronicles his experiences of living in the woods. He advocated simple living.      Lesson to be learnt: 1) how to enjoy solitude.         Chanakya: He was so many things rolled into one. Teacher. Philosopher. Economist. Jurist. And to top it all, he was the advisor to the king. He was instrumental in laying the foundations of the Maurya empire. Clever, canny, his name has become synonymous with wisdom. Lesson to be learnt: 1) how to make strategies. Rumi: More of a mystic, less of a poet. Or more of a poet, less of a mystic. Or a mystical poet. Or a poet-mystic. He transcends religion, borders, and boundaries. His poems...

10 Lives I’d Have Loved to Lead (Part 1)

If I was given a chance to lead the lives of other people, then who would they be? This question popped in my mind the other day and I couldn’t relax until I had listed down a few names. There were no criteria in deciding these names. I allowed my mind to drift from personality to personality from as varied a field as possible and the ones that fascinated me the most and aroused the most curiosity in me, I noted down. My initial list had 25 names that I shortened to 10. Below you’ll find 5 of those names along with the lessons to be learnt from them. The remaining 5 will be discussed in tomorrow’s blog.     Ayatollah Khomeini : The spiritual leader who led the greatest revolution of modern times. Brave, courageous, bold, and outspoken. He defied every logic in taking on the might of US and never once did ...

What to Do When You Have Nothing to Do

Do nothing - if you have nothing to do. That’s the best thing you can do when you have nothing to do because when you have something to do then you can’t do nothing. Seldom do we get to do nothing. All the time we are busy with something. So, when there’s nothing to do, then do nothing. How does it feel doing nothing? No reading, no writing, no watching TV, no sleeping, no talking, no listening, no doing anything. Just doing nothing. Does one feel happy doing nothing or bored? Is it relaxing doing nothing or frustrating? How does the mind behave when doing nothing? Does it think then? If the mind is thinking then can it be said that one is doing nothing? A thinking mind is not an idle mind and therefore the individual is doing something. But if the mind is idle and he also is idle then it can be said that he is doing nothing.   I have experienced do...

The Sky is Not the Limit

The moment you say that the sky is the limit you are limiting yourself. You are already on the backfoot before you have even started. Do not restrict yourself by using such words. Be open-minded. Be free. Be ready to go beyond the beyond. The sky is not the limit, remember this. It could be a milestone, yes. A minor success, yes. A starting point for another sprint, yes. A beginning of another journey, yes. A new challenge, yes. But never a limit. Live in the world of possibilities. Swim in the ocean of opportunities. Float in the air of options.   Expand your horizon. There are many worlds beyond your vision, beyond your imagination. Explore them. Become limitless. Unshackle your mind. Don’t let anyone tell you that it is not possible. Don’t let someone talk you out of chasing your dreams. Don’t let others decide what you can or cannot do. You are the boss of yourself. You are the master of your destiny. You rule yourself, no one else. Bring out the sleeping ...
